Clark Creek Organization Camp
Clark Creek, located 12 miles northeast of Lowell, Oregon, is a fantastic group campground built by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It features five sleeping structures with platform sleeping bunks, plus a large field to pitch tents, play baseball and volleyball or throw a Frisbee. Several hiking and biking trails, swimming areas and open fields offer fun opportunities for large groups with varied interests.

Clark Creek runs through the campground and connects with Big Fall Creek in the Willamette Valley. Willamette National Forest spans 1.6 million acres on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains. The campground offers a baseball field, volleyball court and horseshoe pits. A few footpaths meander through the recreation area. One connects the sleeping shelters to Big Falls Creek and another links to the Ta-Wa-Si Chapel.

The Fall Creek Trail Area is worth exploring, including the Clark Creek Nature Trail, a loop with interpretive signs that help hikers identify plants.

From the city of Lowell, turn left on North Shore Drive. After one block, turn right on Jasper-Lowell Road to Unity Road. Travel north on Unity Road to the covered bridge. At the crossroads in front of Unity Covered Bridge, turn right onto road 6240. Veer left at the "Y" and continue east after it becomes FS road 18. Proceed on FS road 18 to Clark Creek Organization Camp.

I haven't stayed here for some time, but I do remember liking this spot. I agree with Blitzfan that river access would give this a near perfect rating. There is a very small creek that runs through the property. In any event, there is a ton of room here and the large picnic shelter is very nice.

As far as group campgrounds go, Clark Creek ranks at or near the top in terms of facilities. The site is pretty expensive but for larger groups, well worth it. The large covered group shelter is very nice for communal meals. Clark Creek runs through the campground and is pleasant. The large field is great for baseball and other group sports. The sleeping shelters are a nice alternative to pitching a tent but don't provide much privacy.
This campground would get an excellent or near excellent review from me if it was on Fall Creek and not across the road from it.
