Alder Glen is a pretty campground. Set along the Nestucca river, with the benefit of having a waterfall right across the river. On first glance this would seem to be an ideal site. Fishing can be really good in the Nestucca for Salmon and Steelhead. The problem with the campsite are the sizes of the sites. Originally we were thinking of having a group camping trip here. But we decided against it because we could not reserve sites, and also because the sites are so small, we would have had to get half of the sites in the campground to have enough room.
A couple of the sites have longer driveways that would be suitable for RV's. But other sites have very little room and you would have a hard time finding room for a large tent. Some of the sites have decent privacy, but several are really on top of each other. This is really to bad. If they had done a better job with the campground design and layout, this could really be a very good campground because it is in a very nice location. There are a couple of other BLM campgrounds nearby (Dover and Fan Creek) that share the same basic problem. Sites are just to small.
